The perfect nature-escape awaits, 25km/45min drive from Kalaw. Hike forest trails with local villager, who guides you through bamboo groves and teak forests to the lush green forested valley where the Green Hill Valley camp is situated.
Green Hill Valley elephant camp offers several 1-2 days Eco-tourism activities and share knowledge about nature conservation. Here you can also meet the Mahouts – elephant care takers, bathe with the elephants, take an elephant ride and participate in tree re-planting.
Green Hill Valley is a nature conservation project where they plant new trees and give elephants a new home in their natural habitat. They give old working elephants a place to retire and younger elephants a chance to live happy life in safe environment. Green valley staff states that: “Elephants are elephants, we like to see them in their own nature. We want you to see Elephant as Elephant”.

In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Kalaw and transferred to Myint Ka village where your trekking guide will be waiting. From here we trek around 2 hrs along mountain paths through seasonal cultivation.
Our trail leads to narrow valley descending 3-4 hours to the river valley and elephant camp. You will be served a picnic dinner on the way. After the jungle trek you will meet the elephants and their care takers, Mahouts by the river. The area surrounding the camp is evergreen forest with lots of different birds, butterflies and flowers.
You will have an opportunity to bathe and feed the elephants with guidance of their care takers. After feeding and a good bath you have a chance to take 30min elephant ride back to the camp headquarters. ( Taking the elephant ride depends on weather conditions and the health of the elephants). After light refreshment you will be transferred back to Kalaw by pick-up truck of the camp.
Within this day you will learn about the culture of the nearby villages get insight about nature conservation and the lives of the elephants. You can also be part of the conservation project by planting a new tree to the jungle conservation area.
