Soft adventure hiking journey to far north of Myanmar. You will travel with Lisu minority host who will introduce you to local culture, ways of life and the people and keep you well fed with home cooked meals. While on trek the lodging is in local homestays. Expect simple facilities but genuine encounters. Tourism is still almost non existent around here. The hiking route is in low altitude below 1500mals and suited to all fitness levels.

Upon arrival to Putao airport you will be welcomed by our local guide and transferred to your lodge in Putao. Putao lies in a flat valley and acts as a gateway for trekkers and explorers venturing to the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains. After checking in and light lunch we take a stroll around Putao town and surroundings. During dinner you will get a thorough brief about the upcoming adventure.

An early morning walk to Putao market, visit attractive market often busy with local ethnic tribes. Return to hotel, breakfast and head off towards Namtunkoo Lisu village, situated west of Putao on the cross road to Mt. Lancrumadin (20 km, approx. 5 hours). Walk through cultivation field passing some small villages and farm land. After about one hour of walking on the flat land you are in wilderness with lush tropical evergreen forests. About 3 hours trek through the terrain uphill and you will reach approx. 2250 ft, / 680 meters shoulder of Namhtun mountain range from where the path starts to descend. Far west you will see blazing 11530 ft, / 3495 meters high Lancrumadin Mountain towards Indian border. Lunch stop and then trekking for another hour through the farmland to the village. Check in at a designated home and then towards Namhtun creek, usually busy during the late afternoon by locals on their way back home from fields.

After breakfast trekking west to Htawphulaw (22 km, approx 7 hour) passing through cultivated land, grassland and later trough a tropical forest into a small creek which leads to the base of a small mountain about 1000 meter high filled by thick forest. Once descend you get in to Htawphulaw village of Rawan and Lisu tribes. After lunch stop continue trekking towards west to Namsaing which is famous for its hot and spicy chili pepper production. At first you will cross cultivated land and then the route leads in to a small creek which you follow downward along the high reef, small waterfall and after crossing 800 meter high mountain you get to Mula creek which you cross by a rattan suspension bridge to get in to your destination Namsaing village.

Breakfast and return back to Namtunkoo via same route. Dinner and overnight at Namhtunkoo guest house.

Breakfast and visit around the village for social and cultural interaction. After farewell to the locals you walk about 45 minutes through the field along Namhtun creek crossing the creek a couple of times. Once you get into the wildness the terrain immediately starts to ascend and lead up to 2295 ft / 700 meters. After about 2 hour through quite strenuous jungle trail in dense forest filled with bamboo grove the trek gradually descend through farmland from where we enjoy a spectacular view of the Putao plain with snake like crawling Mula creek. Lunch stop and a couple of hour’s easy trek to Mulashidi village. Enjoy beautiful surrounding with snowcapped mountains in distance. Get to your jeep for further excursion to Machanbaw, a small administrative town with beautifully set up colonial style buildings. Arrive at Naungkhine village and walk through a small suspension bridge spanning across Malikha River to Machanbaw. Excursion in town include visit to a small market and walk up to the so-called stone dragon park. It should take about 20 minutes to view the snake-like rock formation. Walk back to the riverfront, cross suspension bridge to the other side and drive back to Putao.

After breakfast you have time to go do some last minute shopping to the local market and see some other points of interest. You can have lunch at a local restaurant before transport to the airport for your onward flight.
