Kyaukme Day Trek

From here we start hiking into more rural village areas passing some paddy and corn fields and encounter Local Shan villagers. We also pay visit to a Palaung silver belt village enjoying scenery of small rolling hills and tea plantations and have a lunch break at a local house. After lunch we pass through some forest areas and hike back to Nar Byien for transfer back to Kyaukme.

This is an easy hiking day and suited for almost all fitness levels and for people that want to experience more rural life of Shan state but do not want to stay overnight in simple conditions. Hiking route is planned so that most of travelers can do it without any problems.

After hiking it is possible to visit Kyaukme cottage industry workshops making bamboo hats and bamboo paper or see the making process of local moonshine distilled from palm wine.

Optional early bird activity: Visiting Kyaukme night/morning market operating from 2:am to 6:am. Market is mostly about selling fresh vegetables that are sent on wards to Lashio and other towns for their morning markets.

Meals: Lunch at a local village house

Hiking time: Approx. 4-6 hours depending on the walking pace.
