The Chin State and Mount Victoria trekking expedition takes in the highlights of this remote corner of Myanmar. You will travel overland to hilly Chin State where your trekking expedition to remote mountain villages begins. The air is cooler and scenery is stunning in Chin State and most of the villages are built on mountain ridges or slopes. You will spend several days trekking through authentic Chin villages where only few travelers have visited. Many of the Chin ladies have facial tattoos in this region. During the trek you will sleep in the local villages and have the opportunity learn about ethnic Chin culture, traditions and beliefs. You trek culminates in climb through Nat Ma Taung National Park to the summit of Mt Victoria 3180m.
Return back to Bagan from Kanpetlet from where you can conveniently either continue to Yangon by flight on the same night as in our itinerary OR you can extend your trip with Ngapali Beach extension or with a visit to Inle Lake and Shan State.

Welcome to Mandalay and Myanmar! Your guide will meet you at the Mandalay airport and transfer to your hotel in town. To acclimatize you will explore today some of the lively markets and artisan quarters of Mandalay city and end the day with sunset by Ubein bridge longest teak wood bridge in the world.

Transfer to Mandalay airport and flight to Bagan. Explore the plains of Bagan dotted thousands of temples. Visit the gold gilded Shwezigon Stupa, purported to contain a holy tooth relic of the Buddha, at the Myingaba Gu Byaukgyi Temple enjoy the sight of Bagan’s best preserved mural paintings. The day’s temple tour ends with a visit to the beautifully symmetric and majestic Ananda temple and sunset spotting from a terrace of a temple.

Today explore Bagan by mountain bike. Your guide will show best hidden trails and tracks to some of the more remote temple sites and villages. You will meet some friendly villagers and learn about history of Bagan. Finish our bike tour afternoon and rest of the day is for relaxing at hotel pool or exploring Bagan independently

This morning embark on 4-5hr drive to Mindat first crossing the Ayeyarwaddy River over a newly constructed bridge and then continuing to Pauk, Kyatko and finally climbing up to Chin Mountains and Mindat town located on mountain ridge at elevation of 1600m.

This morning explore Mindat market in town where villagers from surrounding region come trade their produce. After some tea and snack in a local tea shop drive down to a suspension bridge built by the British. Start your trek from here traversing the valley to Loat Pe village trail eventually ascending to Kyardo village where you will spend the night. Kyardo is small authentic Chin village accessible only by foot. Mingle with the villagers and learn about local culture and ways of life.

After breakfast set on trail trekking through ethnic chin villages and corn, avocado, bean and tea plantations ascending to a seasonal mountain road that connects Mindat to Kanpetlet snaking through jungles of Mt Victoria National Park area. Lunch en-route to Aye village. Tonight you will stay in a simple lodge, which is an old British camping ground. The Lodge is very simple but has hot shower (not always guaranteed though and at additional cost) and rustic rooms with mattresses.

Today you will trek to Nat Ma Taung (Mount Victoria) National Park through rhododendron and pine forests. Along the trail you may see Mithun, the semi wild mountain cattle of the Chin people of grazing free. Lunch stop at the Htan Om village. Continue ascending on a steeper path until reaching more moderate terrain and farm lands leading Do Nuu village at 1850m. Do Nuu is charming village located on a ridge above a beautiful valley.

Today will be most strenuous day of your Chin state trek. Ascent to Mt Victoria summit is not technical but can be challenging due to altitude and elevation gain. Your trail lowly gains altitude, and offering first unobstructed views over the lower lying fields of the villagers before trekking in moss and lichen covered rhododendron forest where many rare plants species, orchids and bird species thrive. Passing Mt Christian you will approach Nat Ma Taung (Mt Victoria) peak and climb up to summit on a wider track that contours along the ridges of the mountain leading to the broad summit at 3180m. Lunch en-route or on top of the mountain. Drive to Kanpetlet where you will stay in comfortable trekking lodge.

This morning walk through Kanpetlet town before driving down from mountain to Saw town. The 4-5hr drive to Bagan is through flat Magwe division until crossing Ayeyarwaddy River to Texas of Myanmar, Chauk. Chauk has over 100 years of oil producing history. You will arrive to Bagan late afternoon in time for your evening flight to Yangon.

Explore the old quarter of Yangon on a walking tour, browse the street markets, enjoy great food and downtime soaking in the atmosphere. You can feel the vibrant energy of this quickly developing city in transition. Visit the magnificent gold and gems decorated Shwedagon Pagoda and end the day exploring the lively Chinatown in the evening where many food and drinks places come alive after dusk.
Free at leisure until transfer to Yangon airport for your departure flight.
