Mt. Victoria to Mrauk U Trek – 6 Days

A challenging pioneer trek that only a handful of Adventurers have done before you yet – available from October 2016! This is the slightly shorter version of the 8D/7N  Mt.Victoria – Mrauk U trek, for people who have less time!

The Temples of Bagan(Pagan), Mandalay, MyanmarDAY 1 > Bagan – Mindat – Kanpetlet – Mt. Victoria – Kin [-/-/D]

Early pickup from your hotel in Bagan (6.30am) by car – arrive to Kanpetlet around 1pm, where you will meet your guide. Lunch at a local restaurant and your last chance to buy some last items at the market. Then 1 hour ride to “Mt. Victoria basecamp” from where we start the Adventure. It’s first a 5km hike up to the “roof of Chin state” – the summit of Mt. Victoria at 3070 meters, before you enjoy a long downhill hike to the small hamlet of Kin, our sleeping place for the first night. Dinner will be home cooked by your guide.

bamboo bridge DAY 2 > Kin – Ka Yain [B/L/D]

A beautiful trek with fantastic views is waiting for us today! After breakfast we first enjoy a very Long descent to the riverbanks of the Moon river, where we will enjoy our lunch at Hee Phoun Village. After lunch and a refreshing swim, we cross the river on a rickety bamboo bridge and Start a long and quite arduous ascent on the opposite side, all the way to the beautiful hilltop ~ 3 ~ village of Ka Yain, which is luckily interrupted by many scenic view points, which we will use to enjoy some well-deserved rests! Dinner and overnight at a village house in Ka Yain village.

DAY 3 > Ka Yain – Mu Laun [B/L/D]

Another long, but beautiful day today! After waving goodbye to the villagers of Ka Yain, we’ll follow the path westwards, along some beautiful mountain ridges towards the very remote settlement of Mu Laun. We’ll enjoy our lunch on the way in the beautiful, traditional village of Ka Nan – dinner and overnight at Ka Nan.

chin villageDAY 4 > Mu Laun – Ma Kyar Ein Nu [B/L/D]

The last full day of Trekking lies ahead of us, and it’s not an easy one! Departing from Mu Laun, we continue westwards, passing the villages of Ma Na Yin and ma Da Thar (lunch), before we reach Ma Kyar Ein Nu in the afternoon. Here you will also be reunited with your big luggage, that was sent by motorbikes all the way from Mindat.

DAY 5 >Ma Kyar Ein Nu – Than Taung [B/L/D]

Chin State Very early start – it’s an easy 3-4 hours downhill trek to the small hamlet of Phi Soung at the banks of the Lemyo river (lunch). From now it’s a relaxing boat ride all the way to Mrauk U, the Trek is over, congratulations! Spend the afternoon going down the river on a local boat (similar to the one in the picture), before sunset we’ll reach the village of Taung Than, already deep within Paletwa township. Last village overnight and home-cooked dinner from your guide!

mrauk U DAY 6 >Than Taung – Mrauk U [B/L/-]

After breakfast we board the boat again and soon we’ll be crossing the border from Chin- to Rakhine state. You see the river become wider and the hills around lower – in the early afternoon we will reach the village/jetty, from where it’s a 1-hour ride by Tuk Tuk (or similar) on bumby roads through the rice fields to the ancient city of Mrauk U, our final destination. You’ll be delivered at the doorstep of your hotel. Here the itinerary officially ends –~ 4 ~ accommodation/sight seeing in Mrauk U or any transportation further onward is not included in the package anymore!
